Missouri Caves in History and Legend
Dwight Weaver gives us a facinating new book of detailed descritions of the many fantastic features that the Missouri underground has to offer. He also gives the reader an indepth look at Missouri cave history touching on points back in time 6000 years ago, to present day cave conservation and preservation efforts being made in his state.
He uses this book to give us a vivid look into back into time as he gives detailed descriptions of how the caves of Missouri came to be what they are today. He gets goes deep into some of the darkest underground regions in the state. He provides us with descriptions of the earliest uses of caves as shelters and burial sites, and then later on as hideouts for Civil War soliders and moonshine stills. He brings us into the present day uses for caves such as areas for wildlife conservation, money-making mines, and show caves.
Also included in this book is an overview of cave resources in the twelve regions of Missouri that have recorded caves. He has also included many photographs of Missouri's beautiful underground features as well as some standout caracters in Missouri Spelean history.
